Solar energy powered social institution

The main objective of the project is development of a photovoltaic system in order to assure electricity from renewable resources for Association Caritas Alba Iulia – Medical and Social Assistance, the nursing homes and health care services of Caritas in Odorheiu Secuiesc and to reduce its CO2 emissions. The applicant aims to reduce its dependence on conventional energy as well as to optimize its expenses.

The photovoltaic panels are planned to be mounted near the transformer tower in the organization’s courtyard on a metal structure. Expected outcomes of the project include an estimated annual CO2 emission reduction of 12 tonnes of CO2 eq./year. The energy produced from other renewable sources is estimated to be around 88 MWh/year. The installed capacity for production of electricity from the panels will be 0,08 MW. The project will require one employee to require specific training. The project will also increase the standard of living for disabled people including children and elderly, as Association Caritas Alba Iulia – Medical and Social Assistance represents a social assistance institution accredited by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection as a social services provider for elderly and disabled people.
