Hungarian partner EMI visit to Trondheim

On August 31st our Hungarian partner EMI came on a knowledge visit to Trondheim, visiting IDN, SP Fire Research and SINTEF Certification.

IDN and EMI is partners in the project “From Nature to Nature” in Hungary. The project aim to create environmental friendly products from waste materials, among them chicken feathers. EMI is a state owned certificate and quality control company that will do testing of products in the project.

 

SP Fire Research

Trondheim Fire Research AS is a limited company, partly owned by SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden (70 %) and SINTEF (30 %). They are located south of Trondheim, Norway, and are Norway’s fire technical competence centre. Together with their Swedish division, SP Fire Research in Borås, they constitute one of the world’s largest research organizations on fire. SP Fire Research was founded in 1934, and for over 80 years they have worked for increased fire safety in the society.

EMI have similar facilities and fire testing. The visit to SP Fire Research gave both parties a chance to share its knowledge and experience within the field.

 

SINTEF Certification

Trondheim2015 075 – redigertSINTEF is the largest independent research organization in Scandinavia. They have leading expertise in the natural sciences and technology, environment, health and social science with over 2100 employees from more than 70 countries. SINTEF is an independent, not-for-profit research institute.

SINTEF Certification is the unit within SINTEF Building and Infrastructure that approves and certifies building/construction materials, structures and structural elements. They issue product documentation in the form of SINTEF Technical Approvals, European Technical Approvals (ETAs) and SINTEF Product Certificates. SINTEF Certification also issues special fire-related documentation.

EMI got the chance to learn about SINTEF Certification’s business and visit their state of the art laboratories.
