Final conference of Project Equality Balance

On the 27th. of April IDN participated in the final conference of Project Equality Balance in Braga, Portugal. The project was developed with the support of a scientific committee that consisted of academics from various fields.

The EQUALITY BALANCE Project was developed with the support of a scientific committee that consisted of academics from various fields. It created a cross-cutting instrument used in all sectors of economic activity, which assessed legislative measures to promote gender equality. The instrument was tested in a sample of 10 NGO’s, representing different sectors of activity, from the district of Braga. It can be used in any organization / entity, regardless of the economic activity sector, legal status or region it is located.

 

 

The aim of the conference was to discuss the results of the project and also the progress on gender equality in Portugal. Both highly ranked academics within the field and important politicians such as the Vice President of Braga Municipality Mr. Firmino Marques was present, making the conference very successful. IDN contributed with a presentation about gender equality in Norway, making room for a debate about the differences between the two countries.

 

 

The lead partner of the project was Associação Famílias. The organization works with different social challenges in the region of Braga. The Equality Balance Project was supported by the EEA and Norway Grants.
