One of the fist weeks in January part of the IDN staff spent in Bulgaria, we worked with two project promoter of Green Industry Innovation projects located in Bulgaria. Joined by Helge Rushfeldt and Erik Larsen, researchers coming of NTNU Mining Lab we visited Cherkezov’s ltd premises in Strumyani. The goal of the visit was to assess the environmental performance and operation of waste water treatment plant, which during the visit was actually installed by the specialist of Turkish provider. Other relevant area of observations was to seek for possible solutions of waste material products (stone sludge) what together with the increase of capacity gets to be more and more important problem. Based on the long term experience in marble processing industry IDN experts will also suggest improvements in production layout – especially storage, organization of the process, which still remains a challenge in the company, having in mind its grow and international expansions of the last years. Last but not least the experts’ team will suggest improvements to decrease environmental footprint of the facility. The first version of the drafted research shall be ready in May 2015.
