GWEEN Project: Supporting Sustainable Women’s Entrepreneurship in Croatia
GWEEN, led by GTF-ISG with IDN, empowers $\ge$100 rural Croatian women entrepreneurs via training in green business practices. It fosters Croatia-Norway knowledge transfer, following IDN led inspiration from Norway.
The “GWEEN – Greening Women Entrepreneurship in Croatia for Climate Smart Economic Growth” project is an initiative aimed at strengthening the capabilities of rural women entrepreneurs in Croatia. This is primarily achieved through the GWEEN Rural Women Empowerment Program. The project is spearheaded by GTF-ISG, an organization known for its expertise in strategic policy advocacy and multi-sector collaboration.
Core Objectives and Impact
The project has two central goals designed to promote sustainable economic development and knowledge exchange:
- Capacity Building: To increase the essential business skills of at least 100 women-owned or operated enterprises situated in rural areas. The training and mentoring programs are specifically designed to focus on integrating greening business practices.
- Knowledge Transfer: To establish a framework for collaboration between entities in Croatia and Norway, facilitating the transfer of best practices and knowledge related to sustainable business operations.
Project Activities and Execution
The program employs several key activities to reach its objectives:
- The development of a comprehensive training syllabus and materials, followed by targeted outreach meetings and educational sessions for the participating women entrepreneurs.
- The implementation of a structured mentoring program tailored for rural agribusiness women, which includes a pivotal study visit to Norway for four women business owners to gain practical insights.
This initiative is anticipated to foster robust bilateral cooperation and enhance professional business connections between Croatia and Norway, thereby contributing to sustainable economic growth across the region.
