Norwegian support backs climate-ready public buildings in Slovakia

Civic Association Ecoenergy (OZ Ekoenergia), based in Rajec, Slovakia, has been approved for EEA Civil Society Fund financing for a new project, “CLIMATE-READY Public Buildings for Communities.” International Development Norway (IDN) is the Norwegian donor partner on the project.

The project runs from October 2026 to September 2028 and covers 51 secondary schools and 24 social care facilities across the Žilina Self-Governing Region. Ecoenergia will carry out energy assessments of the public buildings, install 24 pilot rainwater harvesting measures, and set up the BIOKLIMA Community Centre in Rajec as a hub for further activities. The project also produces a methodological handbook and a climate-energy checklist for use by public institutions.
