Meetings in Dar es Salaam: Building Partnerships in Tanzania

In January 2025, International Development Norway (IDN) held a series of meetings in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, as part of a wider road trip through East Africa aimed at building partnerships and identifying funding opportunities in the region.

On January 14, IDN met with SNV and Oxfam. SNV shared its experience in sustainable project design, local capacity building, and funding strategies across agriculture, renewable energy, WASH, and climate resilience programs. Oxfam discussed its work on smart agriculture, climate change adaptation, and women and youth empowerment. IDN also connected with Jonathan from TAI, who has an extensive professional network across Tanzania and the wider region.

The following day, January 15, IDN met with the Norwegian Embassy in Dar es Salaam and with Norwegian Church Aid (NCA). The Embassy has committed approximately USD 94 million to food security initiatives across six African countries, including Tanzania, and outlined current funding priorities in agriculture, renewable energy, and climate change. NCA raised potential collaboration on gender equality, climate-smart economic empowerment, and partnership models with local NGOs.

The meetings form part of IDN’s ongoing work to build a network of partners and identify funding opportunities across Tanzania and the wider East African region. The conversations will help inform how IDN approaches future project development in the region, particularly in agriculture, renewable energy, climate resilience, and community development.
